What is Blockboard?
Whilst viewing Lou's workbench thread I realised that few people are aware of a plywood style product called "blockboard". I stumbled across some at an auction and must say I'm glad I did.
Here is a link where you can see what it actually is http://www.ecocore.com.au/2.1.html
I've used this product and can say that it is lightweight for it's thickness, strong and very stable. Ideal I would say for benchtops and obviously custom sized doors for which it is used extensively.
I've also included a picture of the 44mm variety that I used on my router table.

I got some I guess it to be over 50yrs old, has a nice looking veneer over it to pity its been ruined, someone used it as a chopping board!
I read somewhere that during the depression good wood was scarce so they made block board from low grade stuff and veneered it for wide panels.....................................................................

Bob,
The stuff I got was from an auction so I paid very little for it. Otherwise the link above has a phone number. Im sure they could help with pricing.
