This panel comes from Bennetts Green Tenpin Bowl in Newcastle NSW. It is from the rolling section of the lane. It is in very good condition and still relatively thick (approx 65mm, original thickness approx 69mm (2 3/4 inches)), it is 42 inches (1.06 metres) wide and about 7 ft (2.13m) in length. This panel has over $AU 670 of timber in it.

Each individual board is 1 inch wide, tongue and groove and has been nailed together with screw nails. The panels are made from ponderosa pine, which has a honey toned colour when finished. This pine is used as it is relatively unaffected by changes in humidity, making it valuable for work that requires close-fitting joints, like these lanes. These lanes have been covered with guardian. This is a film that is laid over the surface of the lane at some stage in its life (white finish). This has further protected the wear on this timber as it is designed to minimise dinting of the timber from ball impact. This can easily be sanded off as shown is some of these pics. The estimated weight of this panel is approximately 70kg.

They still have at least one 't-bar' on the back (see picture - 2 't-bars'). This panel came from a 20ft (6 metre) panel, of which there are few. Also available are Canadian Rock Maple Sections (Priced Differently). I am happy to organise a viewing of this material after hours or on a weekend.

Readers should be aware that attempting to cut the lane sections will destroy their blades. If the intended use is for a large work surface, then the lane sections are worth it. I have built bowling lanes in the past,40 years ago.
The lanes I built for Brunswick, were 42" wide.The approach and the pin setting sections are from hard maple. The rest of the lane was from slow growth yellow pine from the northern parts of USA.Individual pieces are 1" thick, 2" or 2 1/2" wide and tongue and grooved.Nailed every 4" with screwnails,inbetween these nails there are rosin coated box nails. So there are nails every two inches along the length of each piece.If the user intends to remove these nails, forget it. You will never pull these nails,the heads will break if your tools don't first.
