Bowyakka - Figured
I found this block of fiddleback / ringed BOWYAKKA (Acacia microsperma) which was destined for small items eg knife handles or pens but before cutting it I wanted to record and share it beauty it as it is in a larger block.
The colour is a distinctive deep reddish-brown, almost black. Very dense with a very fine grain, like most dryland / desert wattles.
Portion was sanded and coated with clear varnish to show the figured.

Yes Neil, similar but different, seems to have a different colour - often as dark but less brown and more red from what I have seen.
This pic below catches it better (adjusted to darken). It is actually darker than this. Beautiful in my opinion
