    Default Brush Box...

I've looked into the reported properties for Brush Box up here in Qld and find it's pretty low on the durability scale, Class 3, so the DPI&F give it up to 15 years in ground... BUT they also list in it's uses Marine Piles....

Now my question is if it is suitable to use for sticking in water and swinging pontoons, jetties etc off, will it be okay to use as small rounds (6-10") in fencing?

I'm not a fencer, I'm a sawyer, but I'm experiencing a temporary side shift and I've harvested virtually all the available, bloodwood, stringy and ironbark, but there is a need for 7x more posts than I have already harvested and there is a fair quantity of long straight, good sized brush box avaiable.

    What would you do???

Here at Toogoolawah we did and experiment with Box round post and they lasts about 2 years, and then went to dust. Not good at all for posts. Damien.

    Thanks Damien.

    Any one else?

I don't want to do the wrong thing and get these 'posts' ready only to have them fall apart on the guy. ADmittedly they will fall apart, but I'm wanting a bit longer than two years...

DPI&F list them as termite resistant as well as resistant to Lytus borer....?

    Thumbs up Brush box

Great timber but best kept out of water and ground.
Best used for flooring, beams and benchtops.

    G'day.
BBX is not good for inground use. However, In tidal waters for piles etc it is great. BBX has a high silica content similar to Turpentine. They are the best timbers for piles.
    Hooroo.
