    Default Building a small shed

Hello. This my first post. I am planning a shed 3m by 3m by 2.4 (permit not needed). It will be on posts and bearers not a slab. I have read archived posts in this forum about what to use for bearers and joists. Most of posts date from 2004. Advisors were suggesting F7 treated pine or hardwood of various dimensions depending on spans. I went to my local HW chainstore to see what they had. They had F117 hardwood and F5 TP. They had not heard of F7 TP or F7 hardwood. One of the reasons F7 TP appealed to me was that one of the posts said it was the highest grade and could have contact with the ground (which my bearers will likely do as height is important. I would appreciate some advice about the availability of F7 now and whether F5 is just as good. Is F5 TP ok to sit on or just above the ground? Thank you. .

    Hi Snakehorse,

Not too sure about the numbers quoted and have a personal and unreasonable prejudice against treated pine. Others will have to advise on that.

Do you have Cypress pine available? It is excellent above ground and although it does not have a strength grade is normally regarded as F5. You may have to use another timber for posts in the ground.
