Default Where to buy HMR in Hobart

As a newbie to Tasmania, I'm still learning which suppliers to deal with.
I need to get a few sheets of 16mm HMR particle board for some kitchen cupboards.
Can anyone recomend a supplier in the Hobart area? If they can cut to size at a reasonable price (it's for a volunteer group so cost is important) so much the better.
Any ideas on cost for a 2400 x 1200 sheet? The only price lists I have are for Sydney suppliers and I'm guessing it's dearer down here.

    Regards
    Geoff

    Good Morning Geoff

    Welcome to the far south.

I did the run around for HMR melamine and HMR MDF last year. Various staff at M10, B** and K&D told me that it was no longer made, that they had not stocked it for ten years, that they had never heard of it, that all sheet materials were moisture resistant, etc. Eventually located good supplies at Brewsters (Cambell St) and Formica Industries (Mornington).

However, I do not like sawing or routing chipboard or MDF - anything that smells like that cannot be good for you ... - so I eventually went to a local joinery. For a three unit job totalling eighteen drawers they supplied, cut and edgebanded the melamine for $50 more than I could have bought the sheet material. They cut to an accuracy of 0.1 mm, made no errors, and I did not have to suck in the resin fumes or dust. $50 well spent. Win. Win.

    Graeme,
Got what I needed at Brewsters. Unfortuneately they don't cut to size so I had to do that myself. I found the best way to get a neat edge was to cut the board a millimetre or so oversize and then trim up on the router. Fiddly but the end result is acceptable.

I did check with a few kitchen manufacturers but all were too busy with other work to cut to size and edgeband.

All going well, the cupboards will go up next week when the new stove and dishwasher is installed
