    Hey all,
I'm new to the game, so I'm looking for some guidance on where you all buy good timber in Melbourne.

Thanks jms_8087. I'm going to pay urban salvage a visit first as they're the closest.

    Urban Salvage Spotswood?
Please reply how you go, as last time I went to urban salvage all it was was recycled flooring. Would love to know whether they have other sizes.
Market Timbers (Brooklyn?) can also supply timber to order.

Try neo rustic in brunswick, they usually have wide range of timbers.

They've got plenty of joinery grade boards, F27 KD structural, pre-joined hardwood panel boards, a range of American hardwoods (walnut, a few types of maples etc.,)

Also a bargain area with various stuff inc some rough sawn

John, I went there last weekend and took a few photos of some of the boards I was interested in. There was a lot of stuff there. Old floorboards were in the bargain bin, but all the dressed boards were on the shelves (see attached photos). The timber I saw looked like it was in pretty good shape.

    Default The Wood.

    Hi Mark,
If you go to the people that sell fire wood, as they have some excellent types.
Yes, a bit rough, but should be a bit on the cheap side.
Here in Geelong, Vic. there is one close handy, & you know it is mostly Red Gum, just by looking at as you drive past.
    Hope that this also helps.
    Regards,
    issatree.

I've got no way (apart from a stanley #4) to clean up rough cut boards, so finding something that's dressed is worth the money at the moment.
When i get a jointer/thicknesser and a bandsaw finding the bargains like you've described in Geelong would be so amazing.
