    Also try http://www.guitaraust.com.au

I know he's down your way somewhere, but I don't know if he does anything other than mail order, worth a try. The blokes name in Chris, I've had good dealings with him.

Guitaraust stock guitar tonewoods and Chris is ok to deal with. If youre after wood for a cello then youll want billets. Chris may stock billets for archtop guitars but I dont think they'd be suitable for a cello.

I know a few violin and cello makers here in Adelaide and they all get their tonewoods from Europe. Ottos here in Adelaide sometimes have violin sized billets of maple in stock but Ive never seen anything bigger on their shelves. They could probably source some for you but theyre not cheap and the service leaves a bit to be desired.

You could give Gerard Gilet a call at Gilet Guitars in Sydney and discuss your needs with him.

If you want to try some Australian tonewoods then contact tim spittle at Australian Tonewoods in WA (http://www.australiantonewoods.com/).

Tassie Blackwood can be used...saw a really nice violin done in this wood recently and it sounded great.
