Buying timber packs??????
I'm interested in the idea of combining our purchasing clout when buying timber.
If enough people wanted to split the price of a pack of timber we could save a heap.
We would all have to want the same type of timber and live close enough to make it practical.
Has any on had success or otherwise doing this?
Anyone in the greater Brisbane area shopping for a decent load of timber?
The logistics may be to much of a hassle but worth exploringLast edited by RETIRED; 18th May 2005 at 11:14 PM. Reason: Making it easier to read.

A few of us in Melbourne and Canberra have bought some timber from Tasman from Tassie. I bought a swag of blackwood which I was really pleased with.

Sounds like a good idea. I would be interested in blackheart sassafras. We have a fair clout of timber at the moment though, so let us know when you are thinking of ordering and what species.
Cheers

Blackwood...............
Hi guys,we are milling some large blackwood logs soon which will be mostly 200mm X 25mm & 35mm,it is too good to cut into small boards so if anyone has any interest or special requirements before it is milled please let me know.
Sassafras is expensive to buy as it is in short supply and with the latsest step by the government saying old growth logging will be finished in two years
i guess you know what that will do to the price of timber here in Tassie if it is even available it the future.....pretty sad i recon.............

Dan,
just exploring the idea at the moment. Both Major and Tasman have spoken about milling trees to our needs. This was something I hadn't thought of before. It may be a better option than just buying a pack of timber.
Tasman,
What sort of shipping costs are involved in getting the timber this far north.?Specializing in O positive timber stains

Packs
When you want to buy, let Mal know (0265 858296) and get a quote. He will make up pallet lots of whatever mixture of timbers in whatever widths & thicknesses you want and send it off, or deliver it to a Sydney location.
See him at the Brisbane Wood show at Boutique Timbers this weekend if you want to see his timber and discuss this in person.
He gets full truckloads of logs from Tassie, and Qld as well as red cedar, rosewood and other NSW timbers and processes them as ordered.
regards
Greg
