Thanks everyone for your input. you have definitely given him things to think about, and maybe he can put off having the wood thicknessed (?) until the weather improves and concentrate on the structure of the project to keep it as light as possible. I will try to put some photos up in the future (if i am allowed!) Cheers, Cathy

Thanks everyone for your expert advice. It's taken a while to get back to this forum what with work and the school year in full swing. My son is doing well, has glued together almost all his timber, with some fun and games with some cupping ( he has kept everything tied together and weighed down). this years' weather has been really fun! Anyway, when it starts to resemble something I will endeavour to put some photos up. BTW just 'cause I'm a proud mum - he won the woodwork prize last year!
