Caguairán - Guibourtia hymenae(i)folia
Hi Folks,
There is a very dense wood called Caguairán that grows on the eastern end of Cuba. It is a cousin of Bubinga but more dense. Sometimes it is misidentified as being in the genus Copaifera. Does anyone have a bit of this that they would be willing to sell. Alternatively, does anyone know someone in Cuba who sells wood?
Thanks.

I don't think that it is "endangered" -

but "ENDANGERED (A) Preliminary Categorization" which seems lower on the list than "vulnerable"

Thanks for your response.Given how much forest has been cleared in Cuba in recent times, would have thought the remaining areas would now be protected.Timber that is sourced from any tropical region around the world, should only be done ethically. At the rate we're going, there wont be any rainforest left in 20 years, because of our insatiable appetite for tropically grown timbers. It is time consumers changed their mindsets and habits, when making their timber selection. If it's not plantation grown or salvaged, leave it alone! Find an alternative that is a little more earth friendly.Cheers Chris
