Dry WRC is about 350 kg/m^3 according to the internet; you've got near enough to 0.01 m^3 there, so it should be 3500g which is within 5% of what you've measured. I'd say that's pretty conclusive.

Kauri is much heavier at 540 kg/m^3, definitely not that.

Redwood is about 400 kg/m^3, so also unlikely.

    I agree with Elan.

    I calculated as follows:

1570*210*30 = 9,891,000 (cubic millimetres). Divide 1,000,000,000 (this is the number of cubic millimetres in a cubic metre) by 9,891,000 and you get 101.10 (rounded off). 350,000 (grams of WRC in a cubic metre) / 101.10 = 3461g.

I have used WRC as the top on a couple of Cigarbox instruments and it sounds really good. It is a bit soft and dents easily but if treated with respect makes a nice sounding instrument. The one in the pictures has stood up to being played in pubs and festivals for a few wears now. So proof that it works. I used recycled wall linings.

    Regards
    John
