Chadwicks & Harper timber - Sydney
Hi All,
I did a search, but not much info was found. Has anyone used either "Chadwicks Timber" in Smithfield or "Harpers Timber" in Pendle Hill (Sydney) to purchase good quality timber from?
These places are both close to work. Alternatively, can anyone recommend a source near Campbelltown or the Southern Highlands?
Thanks for your time.
Cheers.

timber
depends what you want.
If you want red cedar or specialist furniture or hobby timber, best to call Mal from Boutique Timbers 0265 858296, he has the best prices and will bring it down and meet you somewhere or if a reasonable sized order, deliver. He will be down next week. Alternatively wood show is on in June in Sydney. Bring the ute

The two comoanys metion sell a huge range of timber for building and construction some species maybe ok for joinery and will be a lot cheaper than a specaility timber supplier. Both companys are 3rd generation and know there stuff. Old style timber yards, no slef service at these places

My last experience with Harper's...I noticed that they advertised Alaskan Yellow Cedar decking.I was after some planking for small dinghy so I called in and asked if they milled their own decking or imported it ready-milled.When the office johnny told me they milled their own,I asked if they could cut some quarter-sawn planks for me.After much consultation and much checking on the computer they told me they could and quoted a pretty good price for it.
The next day I went to the yard and told the orderman what I was after.Another lengthy consultation between the yard staff, the result being that "They didn't have a flitch to cut it from, the milling expenses would be enormous anyway, the blokes in the office didn't know what they were talking about and it didn't matter what the computer said about availability of stock."
I've had some brush box flooring from them which was excellent, though.Last year Imade some tool handles from an offcut which had been leaning against the garage,in the sun, rain etc.,for 5 years and it was as straight as the day it was milled, unchecked and perfect,so I guess it really depends on what you're after.
Trend Timbers have at Mulgrave have given me pretty good service and always have some interesting timbers. There's a boat inside me trying to get out.
Was it something I ate?
