Question What are the chances this is actually "Solid Walnut"

    Hi all

Currently live on FB, being given away. I've found tables in the past to be good sources of timber for a variety of projects.

This is the only picture available, along with the suggestion in the ad that it is "Solid Walnut" - any possibility that it actually is?? All thoughts welcome and encouraged.

    Thanks
    Tim

Grain looks like Vic Ash/Tas Oak to me. Possibly with a walnut stain. There was period where it seems like almost everything got a coat of walnut stain.

Nah, looks nothing like Walnut, more like Tassy Oak, need to see some end grain aswell though.

Agree with what's already been said. It would appear that there's a good chance it's solid timber though (unlikely to have veneer edge on top from what can be seen) and at that price you can't go too far wrong.

Thanks all. Alas, I missed out on this one. I would've taken it regardless of the actual species as I had figured it for solid. And for a give away, it was in better condition than a lot of the rubbish people are trying to sell on marketplace.

Unusual top construction as well, boards typically run the table length wise, though it does appear to be an extension table.
