Clean big Railway Sleepers Available in Syd
Hi All,
I stumbled across a place in Western Sydney that has a small (perhaps ongoing) supply of Railway Sleepers. The company has the contract with Railcorp to renew / replace and maintain rail lines.
I am not talking about dirty old sleepers that are half rotten or black with dust & steel. These are relatively clean and are 3200mm or 2800mm long x 240mm x 150mm. please see attached photos. These are available at almost zero cost, or perhaps a couble of bucks for the company social club - too good to pass up I think!!!!!
I will most likely try to get a couple of these to play with and perhaps see how hard they are to work with, and maybe get some more.
If anyone would like to go halves in the hiring of a small truck to share the cost, or if anyone interested has a small truck and willing to deliver to Hornsby, I will be willing to share the details.
Anyone interested???????
regards
Robert

Looks like your on to a winner. The 3.2 piece, looks to be blackbutt.
A nice timber to be sure, but it's a real sod to work. particually as it ages, it gets harder and harder.
absolutely worth the trouble but only cause the price is right. I wouldn't pay for them (to work with) i would pay $10 each for my garden edges. though.
Good luck. I hope you have a strong back.Steven Thomas
