Coastal Blackbutt
Locally I've heard lots of praise for Coastal Blackbutt (a local timber) and nearly always for flooring.
However, I mainly work on furniture. My next project is a desk.
Has anyone had success with blackbutt for furniture? Any tips?
Cheers,
Boz

G'day.
We supply Blackbutt (E. Pilularis) in 290x45mm by 1.2 to 5.4 metres in length for internal staircases and for re-machining for cupboard doors and benchtops.
A furniture company in brisbane takes some, but finds that the gumvein can cause issues visually.Hooroo.

Blackbutt
Hi Boz
Try Boral at Herrons Creek they suply kilm dried hardwoods they have a range of sizes but most would need re sizing for furnature, if you got a bit of space a handyman or farmers or fire wood pack is a cheap way to go. Any timber with faults is rejected after planing yes you will get some waste but at a price that you can afford to burn a lot of it and still come out in front of buying top grade timber.

I've been out Herons before, even had a tour of the place. It's pretty cool to see how that place works compared to the old steam powered mill at Timbertown.
Have you made anything, other than flooring, out of blackbutt?
