how do i compare features of australian and over seas woods?
hi, i am wanting to buy some timber with the same properties as overseas varieties- they are specific to the project.
if i look in "wood in australia" i see that i can compare both; the ADD for weight (correct?) and there is an apendix showing mechanical properties. e.g. modulus of elasticity etc. which can also be compared.
are there key features to compare when switching woods?
Or, is there a table somewhere that i can use ?
i am trying to get australian alternatives for yellow cedar (alaskan), spruce, birch, ash and white oak.
thanks for replies ewan
