Grab that Cypress Howdya!!! if you can.
I started out use crapiata but luckily have found a trade place that sells pine, and other house renovator stuff. The cost of the pine is heaps cheaper than B/M10 and is a lot older so better seasoned. Do you have anything like that in your area - following on from Andy's post.
Other than that, scavenge!!! you'd be surprised what great wood you can find for free or very cheap.
cheers

Saw mills
You could always try a saw mill for you timber. You can get it rough sawn and if you have the equipment the you can dress it your self. They should also sell it dressed. Prices should be resonable to.

Cypress is good stuff. Like any timber it has it's strong and weak points. It has reasonable hardness but is not so hard it is difficult to work. It does tend to twist and flex although I have a bit of it around that I have used and once it is worked and finished I haven't had any problems.
Doing a floor in Cypress I did have to bend a lot of boards to be straight that was hard. It has lots of grain and knots too but I like the feature.

Hey Termite, Could you give the address and phone number for Walker Brothers, I have someone that pickup for me. Do you think they can be trusted to send me good quality if I order over the phone?
