Is this known as anything but crappy chipboard/particleboard?
Gday fellas
Came across this cabinet made from the chipboard that I see lots of packing crates made out of.
Does someone know if this is known as something else, or has a real name?
Where would I get my hands on some apart from out the back of a factory?
Kind of taken a liking to the detail in it.

It does have a special name but I forget what it is!!
It is not so crappy. Much stronger than ordinary particle of chipboard, You cannot bend and break it like chip board. It is used for diaphragm bracing in building construction. I think it is also water resistent.

What he said.
I think it's variously called "waferboard," "flakeboard," "oriented strandboard," and/or "random oriented strandboard." Google any of those for more info about manufacture and use.

Sold here as Braceboard. 6mm thick, and Bunnies usually stock it in the timber section. Made by Hyne.
