Here are a few pics of the last of the fitting and gluing of the corner details and splashback coving. The last two pics show the assembled joint. Tomorrow I will complete the edge profiling. Then I will need to wait for the kitchen floor to be tiled so that I can install the cabinets and benchtop. The joins in the last pics are still dry and will be epoxy glued on site. The benchtop will be finished on site also. I be using a hybrid Tung oil and polyurethane wipe on clear finish so that it dries fast and I can build up the coats.
Enjoy!
Pete.

Like the curve on the front of the bench. Two stage curve over just a round curve like post formed tops looks good

I gotta tell you that the bottom curve was a bit of a bugger to do. It's a big custom ground cutter and you've really go to hang on to the router. I made several passes backwards before finishing with a normal forward pass. I wa s glad when it was done.

The benchtop looks wonderful.
A few months ago I bought a heap of laminated karri to make our benchtops but never got them done - bent like bananas.
Anyway, I hope your local milkman never sees your photos.
cheers

I've got one of the big old Hitachi routers, thankfully with soft start. I took it real easy. The reason for the backward passes, for those that may not know, was to stop the router grabbing and puling into the workpiece. With a big cutter, that can be disasterous. I kept doing easy backward passes until there was only about 1.5 mm left to remove. Then I did an easy forward final pass.

thanks for the added detail. What does it cost (if you dont mind me asking) to have a bit reshaped?

Here's the Crows Ash offcuts all bundled and ready for you Dave. Now the pressure is really on for you to produce some serious WIPs. Starting with a drunken scoop.
