Custom Size Laminated Timber
Dear all
I'm hoping someone can help me here. I'm in the process of building a new computer, and it's also time to upgrade my desk, and for now, I just need a table top.
Please don't look down on me, but I've chosen a finger-jointed (I think) laminated style design, such as here:

Don't look down on me again, but my g/f found a near perfect option at IKEA!!
GERTON Table top - IKEA
She's having a lot of say in this, and I have to keep her happy if I want the computer to finish
The trouble is that I can't seem to find something in my dimensions. I'm looking for 1800 long, and at least 750 deep (height between 20-30mm would be great), but I can't find anything. Bunnings have some pine panels but I'd have to join them together. They also do an acacia laminated panel, which I'd have to glue to a second cut piece, but it seems someone else had a nice issue with that:

So my question (sorry for belaboring!) is: where can I get something like this custom made, preferably in Sydney?
Will I be scoffed at if I ask around?
Thanks for your help!

G'day Adam and welcome to the house of knowledge. Good to have you here!
Nobody is going to scoff, snigger or laugh - except at the wall decorations . You have problem
and some member here will most probably have an answer.
I don't recall seeing panels of that kind in hat sort of size, but they may well exist. I have seen large
panels at Ikea but wouldn't know the sizes. Bunnings only stock things in standard sizes so that is a
problem in itself.
Custom made ? Big money!!
How handy are you? you may be able to make what you need from well finished, kiln dried, dressed
timber- including tongue and groove. You will need a good quality glue and some good clamps to do
the job.
Failing these options you might have to rethink and go for ply or veneered particle board.
Good luck!!
