Decking timber to match Red Ironbark stairs
Hey Guys,
I have recently finished some low to the ground (at same grade as surrounding batter) stairs with the treads out of Red Ironbark.
I wish to use readily available decking timber in the 'rise' of the treads. Originally i was thinking of also going Merbau. Will this match the Red Ironbark? the colour appears pretty similar once the Merbau has weathered / stopped tanning.
Here is a pic which might help.

I'd be ripping some more of your treads with a bandsaw.
I would have thought any of the reds would do, ie bloodwood/blue gum/red gum/kwila etc, a little different probably won't matter given the locationNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I reckon your stairs look great as open treads. I'd put some dark coloured weed mat down on the ground underneath the stairs, paint the stringers matt black and job's done.
