Which Eucalypt is this?
I have a Eucalyptus tree at the side of the house that is going to have to come down (awaiting council permission ). It looks as though it is dying. Has a good straight trunk that I hope to salvage. From the images below can anyone tell me which eucalypt it is. Thanks.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

G'day Bob, can you get a pic from further back to show the shape too?
Does it have different bark around the base?
Does it shed it's bark each year?Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Hi Cliff. Some bark comes off in big chunks - but not much. Not the stringy bark type. Can get a full tree shot, but it will look like stick man. The leaves you saw in the post above are just about all it has.

Some more pics. I have pulled off some of the bark in the second shot so that you can see what it is like. This shot also shows the bark right to the base.

Bit of a hard one to identify, going by the bark and leaves it could be Woollybutt (NSW) or maybe one of the Grey Box species.
How long are the leaves?Cheers

Leaves, on average, are between 8-10 inches (200-250mm).

Has it ever flowered, or set seed? Are there any old seed capsules under the tree?

I can't remember it ever flowering. There is another eucalypt on the other side of the house and it does flower, and when it is, it is full of parrots every morning and night. Have never seen a parrot in the other tree.

looks like a sick tree...
gotta wonder what could make a tree that size so sick...
I'd be wondering whether s'thing is eating it to death - in which case, is the timber gunna be salvagable...
soon know when it gets felled...

This is a real stab in the dark but I've seen southern mahogany looking like that.
Southern mahogany
Bark dark grey or brown, rather thick but soft short fibred. often fissured (on older trees) on the trunch and sometimes llarger branches. smaller branches tending towards gum barked smooth and grey or pale colours.
Leaves have numerouse fine veins a a large angle (horizontal) to the midrib and are dark green on the top side and light green on the bottom side.
Seed Capsules from the tree would tell the real story.
Very difficult to tell from photos with such a sick tree, also it appears to be quite young (in euc terms).
