Default Need some Expert Timber Help

As I am trying to always improve my products I am looking at using some different timbers. Mountain/Alpine Ash is the standard timber we use for our wood bats however I am interested in what our Australian Birch Species have to offer. Does anyone know how our Birch species compare to North American Yellow Birch at all? I am specifically looking for density, and angle of grain.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Brett

I suggest you get hold of 'Wood in Australia' by Bootle; it gives detailed data on the physical properties of Australian timbers.

We need an overall balance of the correct density, flexibility, and hardness. And in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Australia</st1lace></st1:country-region>, availability is another obstacle<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
