F5 used in construction instead of MGP10 specified in Engineering plan
Hello Experts,
My builder has used F5 timber for framing while the engineering specified to use MGP10. The surveyors to me seem like to be with the builders and reckon that it is fine for the builder to use F5 as they have provided Span tables. From my end, I have not received any updated engineering plans or even a notification that the timber is going to be changed. It was only picked up during the private inspection. When I asked the builder, they say its them telling the engineers which timber to use and it is fine for them to use F5.
My questions: (Timber schedule attached for reference)
1. Is it ok for the builders to change the timber grade without engineering approved
2. Can the engineering change the timber schedule now after the frames has been completed.
3. Are the span tables to check the timber grade?
4. Is the structure compromised if F5 is used?

Greatly appreciate your advise. Thank you
