High Figured Myrtle....
Just a quick note to tell you i saw some of the best figured myrtle i have ever seen today, bit like fiddleback only in stripes, and was just finished being milled. My friend Dave is selling it very cheap off saw and green it is mostly 38mm thick and various widths from 200mm down to about 120mm.He is considering advertising it in the Hobart paper so if any one wants it ring now or you will miss out.I think it would make instrument quality.
Ring Dave on 03 62971101.

I hate you Taswegians.
I got a bad case of sticker shock when checking out a single stick of figured myrtle at Trend Timbers the other day.

From what he said he is only asking $4.50 to $5.00 per super foot which is one foot by one foot by one inch and for figured myrtle, one meter of 200mm X 38mm should be around $14.50 per meter, seriously you guys should get together and buy the lot,it is only a small pack........

Hi Tasman,
How much would be there?
Is there anyone else in Brisbane that would be interested?
Cheers,
Bakes

yes but shipping could be a bit cos of weight and costs.
Also will be heavier than dry to ship and when it gets here will wanna split and warp cos of the heat so needs ot be packed in plastic well.
I can put in 100 or so if any one else wants to share..bit suss of the green as i have had troubles with other green myrtle from tassie

That myrtle is interesting.. was down there today and had a look at it.. not in a position to store anything green at the moment otherwise i would of bought some.(a lot) very interesting pattern I wont try describing it but highly unusual indeed..
Dave is definitely willing to ship it up to the mainland if enough people are willing to band together and make it worthwhile sending it off..
Bakes - I'm not Tasman nor did I count or ask but from memory there were 30 - 40+ (pure guessing here) boards in the dimensions given by Tasman when he started the thread..
Talking to Dave the Myrtle needs to be air dried for at least three months and then can be kiln dried.. that is at least okay for Tassie but will let more knowledgeable people talk about the differences involved as you move closer to the equator as well as for the temperatures involved for the kiln my understanding is that lower temps are better.
Cheers
ps CraigB - whats the deal i know we have Huon, Blackwood, Sass, Celery Top, King Billy, Leatherwood but if we want something exotic stuff you guys grow over there on the Big Island then the stickers don't give us shock.. its more along the lines of a coronary

Reeves,
Doesn't look to be any other interest. I would like to get some but it might be a bit hard just for the two of us.
Cheers,
Bakes
