What about using thick CA mixed with the fine sanding of the silky oak, may not be a feature but will fill the cracks and it blends in well with the timber
I have done this with silky oak and red gum
Regards
David

Suggest you add some black powder as recommended above to give a great feature

i think i will just go with the resin. i already filled the large cracks back with sawdust mixed with glue and neutral wood filler. it ended up darkening the sawdust and wood around it a bit so i just put some more of the neutral filler over it. sanded it bach and the dark marks are still there so i will try some courser sand paper on then.
