    Default Fireplace surround

I am looking to build a surround for a newly installed wood heater. I have a small amount of jarrah but it is not enough to go around but I really like the colour.

Now I am living in NSW and it is hard to comeby jarrah at what I think is a reasonable price. Is there a dark wood subsitite that occurs in NSW??

    thanks

    Ivor,

Not as dark as jarrah but the following are some of the choices.

Red mahogany, froest red or river red gum. Your local timber yard or sawmillers may be able to advise you on availability.

    Regards,

    Theva
