Default Is it good for anything other than firewood?

I've just had my house re stumped (1950's Weatherboard in Melbourne) and they took off all the baseboards. I wanted to keep them to burn over winter, but looking at them now they seem to be in pretty good nick. They have numerous coats of paint and some ends are rotten but if they might be useful it seems a bit of a waste...

So my question is are they likely to be useful for anything in the future, or should I light up and enjoy a scotch in front of a roaring fire?

    Matt

I would cut off any rotten/damaged bits, be critical with what you have left and if you are happy, store them neatly out of the weather until you have a project for them.
As for the pile of offcuts...putting them on the fire to make the scotch more drinkable sounds like a great idea.
As for the lead paint.....if you have a combustion heater I don't think you would have a problem as the burning temperature is high and the fumes will getaway with out coming to help you and the scotch as with an open fire would do
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod
