    Buggar!

Here in Queensland most tree loppers & woodies shudder at what they may find in backyard Mango trees. Star pickets, steel fence posts, fencing wire, chain mesh, bottles, tools, rocks, bullets, nails, railway dog spikes, china cups & plates are just some of the things I have seen & heard of. Amazing how high up a tree they can be found too.

Artme - I know the feeling, I have several recycled 6"x 6" oak beams stored away, lord knows what is hiding in them. I'm afraid to even walk past them with the chain saw. I think what I need is one of those cut-off saws steel fabricators use for hacking up RSJs.

I bought a metal detector for this specific reason. Put a nail through the thicknesser just after I fitted a brand new set of blades, went out and bought a metal detector in anger.

Definitely not very good to find a nail in so deep. I have a piece that I am aware of that has a wire through it. Not sure what I am going to do with it as yet.
