    Default Floorboard Timber?

    Hi All,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with identifying the type of timber floorboards that I have in my entry room(have attached some pics) the rest of the house is Jarrah floorboards, and I was quite surprised to see this blonde wood when I pulled the carpet back in the room.

I don't think it is Tassie Oak, I maybe wrong though, because of the differences in grain & texture between boards and thought maybe wandoo, but the floor sander who did the jarrah bedrooms didn't think so, he had to sand a couple of the yellow boards at the front of the bedrooms and said they sanded fairly easily. So now I've got no idea, W.A blackbutt?

The house is 1950's/60's and I'm assuming they're original but who knows?
I would like to match my new kitchen bench tops to this timber.
    Any opinions would be great!

It could be black butt, but usually wa blackbutt is as hard to sand as wandoo nearly. Would be my pick though, would definetly rule out the ash/tas oak theory no gum veins.

*edit* blackbutt was used a fair bit in W.A. in high traffic areas as it wears quite well. Hence the extensive use in woolstores.
I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.

Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.

Thanks for the replies, will work with the blackbutt theory until proved otherwise.
Nifty I have sent PM regarding supplying some timber.

    Cheers
