    Default free timber Brisbane,Rocklea

    Hi everyone,
Early this year as many of you know Brisbane flooded.(#&%$!##)

I have my business (furniture manufactor) in Rocklea and went under three metres. I now am moving out of my premises and have no where to store some of the timber (pine) that got wet. I have proberly 7 m3 of timber that can be cut down and used. Its all dressed and is either laminated panels or 240 and 290 x 19. If anyone would like some for free, send me an email and I'll arrange a time for you to come and have a look.Might be an idea to bring a ute or trailer.
I have till this wednesday to move it.Brisbane City Council is very kindly suppying a skip for free and this is my opportunity to clear all the things I can not take. Im happy to keep something for the next 5 days if you cannot pick it up but I do not want to have to pay for it to be dumped after I had the opportunity to het rid of it for free.

    regards
    Mark

When you say 'this Wednesday' does that mean tomorrow? 8th June? or the 15th? I'd love to come and get enough pine for a couple of projects, but I'm moving on Friday, so can't come until the weekend.
    Cheers, Richard

I must admit I was surprised it was still here, I thought it would all be gone by now. Maybe everyone else has the same problem I do with getting there in the middle of the week.

Many thanks to Mark for his generosity in making this timber available.

I picked up a trailer load this morning and which is sure to keep me amused for a fair while ...

Indeed, the quality was a lot better than I was expecting for flood affected materials...

However, Mark did show me the level that the water had been to and what I saw was a very, very sad picture of the demise of a vibrant furniture factory that was previously employing seventeen people. Very sad indeed. Best wishes to Mark in his next endeavour.

In the meantime, Mark, check your private messages for the one that I promised you with the GPS coordinates for absolutely guaranteed fishing success in Moreton Bay.

I do hope that other woodies can take advantage of Mark's generous offer. It would be such a shame to see these materials put into landfill, albeit I can see that they would not be economically salvageable for a commercial enterprise. 'Tis different for us hobbyists, of course.

    Once again, many thanks, Mark.

    Unbelievable.

I'll be taking my big trailer on saturday to collect what ever is left. If anyone wants some but doesn't have a means to shift it and is in the western suburbs I may be able to cart some for you. I am reluctant to tow all over brisbane because I lost the rego sticker last year and the new one doesn't come until July. Naturally the government is fining people it finds without stickers so....

I'm going to have a busy saturday. Gotta get the new thcknesser/jointer home, collect the pine, and I just KNOW carbatec are going to call to tell me the progrips have finally come in, murphy demands it...

Wait! No one told you your government was a sitcom?

I am pleased to comment that I hardly made a dent in the pile that Mark has made available. Also, I did not cherry pick the better stuff nor take the longer pieces so I am sure that whoever gets some will be delighted with the material.

Yes it was sad to see the effect upon Mark's factory. Where I work is just around the corner and we were nailed too. So lucky our place managed to survive the catastrophe. Floods seem to be probably among one of the most devastating natural disasters. Nothing is left unsullied.

I found him to be a really nice fellow and wish him all the best in his future venture(s).

Will be picking up my load on Sat am.

Many thanks for your offer Mark and I will endeavour to create a survivor of the disaster.
