have you thaught of building a solar kiln?

    Translation
    Greenhouse.

I have read several articles on the subject and there are a couple of them on the market.

The crudest is basicly a clear plastic tent with some electric ventilation.

    Try a search on that.

Mate after me tearing all my muscles across the shoulders and neck the other day moving the heavy flitches around from the verge to their pile... I well the hoons {kids} actually took everything apart other than leaving a bunch of sticks placed across the top layers and weve now placed a bunch of flitches over it and tied them down... that will have to do it for now as other priorities have taken over.

..and until the machine gun nests have been set up.

With stacking the timber if you can do so with the aid of shade from the direct sun in the form of existing trees such as I also have down beyond the chookyard then the moisture loss is kept to a minimum.I still have mine covered in cheap tarps from W.A. Salvage but with the ends open to air flow.

Of course a proper shed is better but we're not all in a position to lay out for a shed large enough to cater for all the greedy timber we want and the trouble with tinnie sheds is that they get so hot in the summer with little or no air flow.

Bloke down thisaways got three solar kilns and manages to commercially stabilise Sheoak which he has no problem with marketing in the turnaround ....and its gettin' pricey ...only use him now if no other options present itself.

    Cheers

    Gidday Jonno

I had a bit of a gander at the solar kilns the other night and figured it would be a good idea... if I had the room! but the space on the block is getting less with every breathe I take!... soon as the shed is up the only area Ive got the front where... the stacks are! so unless I build it around them its not going to happen... and the missus wants some of her yard left for her plants which have taken somewhat of a beating since the trees came down.

Were goin to whack some of those tarps down the sides open of course! just about when I get around tuit for now I reckon they will be fine for a few days to a week then I will organize myself and set them up.

Mind you going to this auction has the missus kinda nervous... "your not taking money are you honey?" Honey?? tell me your not going to be buying anymore wood" "so why are you taking the boat of the trailer and hitching the empty trailer up for?" "how about if I hold the card dear?" that sort of thing...

Women just dont unnerstan do they?
