Thread: Gable In-fill - Timber Slats Fire Rated

We are in the process of getting an carport built and I would appreciate any advise on the builders proposed timber to be used as the in-fill to the gable. I will try to attach a photo of the look we are trying to achieve. We are in a category 2 bush fire prone location, so the timber needs to be fire resistant. The builder has proposed merbau as the timber of choice, but from reading this forum this timber leaches and may cause staining to the surrounding material. With this in mind can anyone recommend timber that will facilitate the look were after with out this problem?
