Gabon/Gaboon/Black ebony - where to get?
Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone on here knew of anywhere in Australia that i could get some boards of black ebony? ideally pieces 3" wide and wider by at least 3 or 4 feet long and 1" or more thick?
I've imported some similarly sized bits from overseas in the past but shipping costs are always stupidly massive and i'd really prefer to avoid them if possible.
Also, would anyone know of a supplier of black dyed pear veneer?

You might try PMing Euge. He seems to have quite the range available and he's actively trying to get rid of it.
Otherwise no idea. You might score at the wood collectors' stall at a wood expo or at one of the WWW shows.
Gidgee is similar if that helps...
Best of luck.

Dunno if it was the right type of ebony, but woodworking warehouse in braeside had some beautiful lengths in their racks over the weelend.
May be worth a call to them, but you'll need a fat chequebook...
