    Post Gunstock Timbers

s a keen muzzleloading enthusiast ,the time has come for me to make a gunstock. Can this forum offer any suggestions as to what Australian timbers are known to provide a suitable strength and appearance to suit such an application ?

A nice fiddleback blackwood does do the trick
I would also consider a fiddleback Messmate or similar .It really depends on what type of weight you want in your finished piece !?.

Big bore, fiddlebacked, spiffy and Messmate

all sounds a bit "R" rated to me
