    Sliced and diced a chunk of Hairy Oak the other day

    It's the easiest of the Casuarinas to work with, too. Pity those darned wood-munchers like it as much as I do! The last lot I had was the nicest I've seen, but there was so much insect damage in about 60% of it, I struggled to find pieces big enough to be useful. Are there areas where it doesn't get so chewed up??

    One of my favourite Aussie timbers......heck....too many to name but hairy oak is bloody lovely and finishes beautifully..... Thanks for sharing

    Hairy Oak, Bulloke, WA Sheoak, River Oak, Beach Sheoak ….. all turn nicely. Darn shame that they have a few issues, insects, cracking, collapse (Beach Sheoak). Almost my favourites, behind the Flindersias though.
