Default what heavy kinda oak would you call this ?

got it from a lismore supplier. little bits and pieces he gave me. He's been around a while but still wasn't sure what it was, other than its oak like appearance.

Said he felt it came out of western N.S.W.

Its very dense and heavy. Like picking up a stick of granite.

Similar heart wood colour to riveroak, and saps like silky oak sap.

guessing something like mountain oak, or rosesheoak, but I mentioned them and he didn't think so.

    thanks

    Jake

There's actually quite a few trees from out west with that grain and colour but none of them grow to diameters like that so the lads would be on the money with Beefwood

    Thumbs up

Jake, II'd go with Beefwood too.

When dry it is dusty mongrell stuff to work, as well as being as hard as the hobbs of hell.

There are lots of seats around Parliament house in Canberra that are made from Beefwood.
