Default Help from the brains trust please

    Good morning All,
I needs some assistance to identify this slab. I have 4 of these, all around 2 metres long and up to 700 mm at the widest point.
The timber is quite dense, with tight end grain and is highly figured. No aroma on sanding to speak of. Dr Google has not been much help, but I was leaning towards either Norfolk Island Pine or Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle. The slabs came from a lot of timber that I know came from Tasmania (got lots of great Blackwood in the same lot).
Photos are pre and post coating with Marine Varnish.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Greg.

Tiger myrtle at a guess not norfolk island pine as nip is a real blond colour.

    Glorious grain there Greg
    Absolutely lovely figure throughout
Can't offer a definitive answer though Myrtle is a realistic proposition IMO...MM

I've got quite a few boards of Myrtle, including one with some tiger, but none of them are anything like that.

Beautiful. Not tiger myrtle. Maybe some sort of pine.

Thanks for the feedback. I will just put it down as "species unknown" and just appreciate it for what it is!
Mapleman, I should have posted a photo of this before - it is a keepsake box I made out of some of the Camphor that I got from you a while back.

Had to get these up the right way so I could have a decent look. There's a lot going on in that stump timber.

Sorry Greg I can't give you any tips because I've got no idea what's going wrong for you. They're quite easy to copy and save and you can rotate them in either Paint or Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Just a guess here, but I’d say you’re taking the pics with a phone, if so, turn the phone 180deg and the pics should load the correct way up
    Cheers
