Help with pricing on kauri timber please.
Hi guys an merry christmas. I was hoping for some advice on the price of a couple of slabs from the people on here who actully deal with selling. After having a look on the forums an only finding info about N.Z kauri I thought I would ask as I have a heap of qld kauri (Agathis robusta ) slabs that I am hoping to get rid of over the next couple of months. The slabs are betwwen 3-4 foot wide, 2.5-3 inches thick, an between 8-12 foot long. I cut the timber about roughly 10 years ago an has been sitting in my shed stripped an air dried until now. The slabs are dead straight knotless grain, with virtually no cracking at either end of the slab. I intend to sell the slabs dressed (thicknessed, sanded). So what do you think would be a fair price for these. I dont want to rip either myself, or the person buying them, off. Thankyou for any help.

Sorry but I don't have detailed knowledge of your timber value, but something that size in Camphor Laurel would be around $100 for me.

Kauri's funny stuff, Ive paid as litttle as $500/m3 and up to $2000/m3. So your guess is as good as mine as to its value. Looks like some nice material you have there, but I wouldnt be dressing it unless requested by the customer. Bluestain can be a problem with Kauri and if it were me, I would rather take it in sawn form and dress when ready to use.
How much have you got available? I have a job coming up requiring about 1.5m3 to 2.5m3 if you are interested.
