Help with timber id
I am trying to identify this timber.
It teak-like in colour with a fairly straight grain. It planes very well/easily. There is a stamp impressed into the end grain. The impression is a circle with a W inside it followed by BRASIL in large uppercase letters.
Is it a South American (Brazilian) teak?????

Thanks John.G
Yesterday following consultation with a woodwork colleague, we decided it is Brazilian ipe (or walnut) as you suggested.
I planed a wider face - it's beautiful timber. See photo.
Now to sell it as it belongs to a friend with a very debilitating health issue. I am helping his family to clear out his workshop gear.
There are 4 or 5 lengths of about 1.2m long x 60mm thick.
