Himalayan Cedar doors, best finishes??
Himalayan cedar used to make front doors and windows for a climate that is a very hot dry summer followed by monsoon
Traditionally it appears that a combination of liming to seal the pores in the wood and finished with a shellac type of french polishing
Looks quite nice and silky smooth when done but the problems are that the wood secretes oils etc and pretty soon the finish gives way, it has to be redone annually
Just wonderin if any experts have any tips or ideas for an alternative finish that is more hardwearing yet will still show the beauty of the wood and craftsmanship
There are about 5 double doors, three single doors and twenty internal doors to do, six windows and two sets of kitchens, all the same material

Tung Oil Tree??
Hi, thanks for that, i think that may well be the best option, any idea as to how much in terms of applications and quantity I am likely to need.
My next step is sourcing it over there or taking it across with me, unfortunately luggage restrictions might stipulate that volatile oils etc are not allowable on board aircraft luggage
Problems problems,,,,,, why dont i just grow a darn tung oil tree???
