Hi all, I'm trying to find places and info on the viability and possible cost of felling a tree on my property and using it for building a deck. I recently had one large mountain grey cut down and milled on site into posts for a shed I want to build but am interested in getting some nice decking out of the next one to come down.

It is getting removed anyway and it was to be milled into posts and larger timber to use green for sheds but I'm interested in kd decking

I have a miller sorted and think I have a finishing wood machining place which is local but Im not sure about somewhere to get it kiln dried and weather or not it will turn out any good? I'm tipping it will come out similar to the silvertop ash in colour.

Should it be backsawn/quarter sawn?
what size should the first cut be done to achieve a regular decking board of 90x20ish?
Can it be kiln dried straight away?
how long from being cut until it can be used?
does anyone know of a kiln drying service for small private jobs?

all help is appreciated!
