Huon Pine
Where is the best place to source air dried Huon Pine measuring approximately 500mm x 400mm x 10mm to 20mm?

I would go to the Working with Wood show in mid June. There are always people there selling Huon. I reckon there were half a dozen people last year selling pieces of all sizes.
I have no idea whether the prices you pay at the Show would be higher or lower than what you would get elsewhere.
There is a place down the road from me called Anagate (sp?) that sells some nice timber. They would have huon.

I should also mention I'd prefer aged (30 + years) Huon Pine if it's available.

aged?
Do you mean huon that has been in someone's garage for 30 years?
Anyway, Mal from Boutique Timbers can cut to whatever thickness you want and has 50mm wide logs and boards.
Check his web page.
He will be at the Sydney www show with Huon, as will around another half a dozen resellers of huon.
Good luck with the 30 years..... It may be hard to find unles you get a privat seller

Since the logging of huon stopped in the 1950s almost everything since then has been salvage of already dead wood so you would be hard pressed to get anything less than sixty years old.

Hi Huon pine,
I was in TAS a few months ago and got talking to a guy at Strahan. He runs a houn pine mill right on the warf, bit of a tourisy thing but has been in the milling game all his life.I think his name was Morris and I don't recall his business name. He told me that he done quite a bit of mail order stuff. Might be worth chasing him up.
Cheers
Peter

A correction to the size. I'm looking to buy 4 to 8 pieces that measure 400mm wide 20mm deep and 500mm or more in length.

I only require 20mm deep. A 50mm piece will command a much higher premium.
The replies are much appreciated.
