No idea.. Help me..
Hi~
Here I am in S.Korea.
I need eucalyptus limber to build outdoor coffee house and restaurant here. So I plan to fly Asutrailia to get what I need.
Actually my sibling took a plane to the country to get eucalyptus (cut dead eucalyptus by himself) but it was not adequate for our usage so again one of us have to go and buy this time to get right one.
It's not very easy to get right information on the web. I think this web site is quite informative.
If possible, I want to get limber near brisban since I have to ship it.
Any way.. I would appreicate any advice and information. If you know timber mill or anything I can get these trees please take litte time and let me share your precious info.
Thanks.

Chloe,
In Australia, you could get youself into a lot of trouble if you start cutting down trees, in most cases, it is illegal. Furthermore, Most Australian eucalyptus timber is very heavy, the cost of Flying to Australia buyin the timber and shipping it to Korea would be huge. Maybe you could use Steel & cover it with a local timber to hide the steel.
SteveThe fact remains, that 97% of all statistics are made up, yet 87% of the population think they are real.

Chloe,
why do you want to use Australian Eucalypt timber in Korea? You could get timber from PNG a lot cheaper, or the Solomons, the Phillipines or Indonesia. They have much lower labour rates and do not have as strict conservation regimes as we have in Australia. If you really must have timber from Australia then I'm sure that the Yellow Pages (commercial phone directory) will list quite a few timber yards who would be able to help you.

Chloe, most of the mainstream timber supliers in Queensland would probably have what u need to some extent. Also direct from sawmill is a good option.
U may need to be more specific as there are many species of Eucylypt used in building, ironbark, bluegum, spotted gum,Stringbark, the swamp ash or Regnans and their relatives..bloodwood and other.
some of the major timber recyclers have lots of good old building woods...
try the Qld yellow pages..as it will ship cheaper to u from higher north...in theory...
I know amalgamated timbers in Towoomba have been cutting and shipping containers of blackbutt and ironbark to japan...
just contact them if u need any more details
some nice bluegum in here

Chloe u will also need to think about tranpsort and storage of yr timber..u may be better buying slabs and cutting in when it gets there. less chance of splittinga nd temertaure change affecting the wood.
cheeeeeers

Thx for yr kind reply..
Are you recommending bluegum as durible timber?
I know it would be much cheaper if I buy slabs.. but what I need now is unsplit whole timber.. for pole and beam.
Any way thank you..
Thx,
Chloe

Wow,, there are so many kinds of euc., which I didn't fully expect.
Taking your advice, I'm going to recommend bluegum as a possible option.
By the time I read all the article, I might be well aware of the tree. ^^
Thank you for your information and help.
Regards,
Chloe

Durable timbers
It might be worthwhile contacting the government forestry office.
They will have information on Durable Species for outside buildings.
http://www.forests.qld.gov.au/welcome.htm
The most durable is Tallowwood if you can get it.
Jarrah would also be excellent.
There is a company in Kempsey, NSW, that prepares recycled Jarrah to order. I think they are called
Australian heritage Timbers.Scally
