Can you identify this timber?
Hoping that someone might be able to identify this timber for me please?
It's fairly heavy if that helps.
Thanks

Bit hard to tell from photo, but at a guess I'd say Jacaranda. Any idea of leaves or flowers etc?

Thanks dai sensei. No idea of leaves or flowers I'm afraid, the log was in my Dad's shed. If it was jacaranda, do you have any idea of what it might be worth? (Am tryng to sell the wood for my Mum.)
Thanks, Janice

How big is it? Green or dry?
Hate to say it but probably not worth much.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I can't see a square pith centre so I would say not Jacaranda.

G'day Janice,
IMHO....If the branch is less than 150mm diameter I would suggest it is Olive.
Olive less than 150mm will only have the nice grain in the centre, only when it reaches bigger diameter the grain spread wider.

If it's olive all you need to do is saw a little and smell the fresh sawdust. However, I would have expected the centre to be darker.
Cheers,
Jim

Thanks guys for responses.
Dimensions are:
Length 127cm
Diameter 12cm
Wood is dry, has been stored in dry shed for many years.
I'll try sawing it - presumably if olive the sawdust would smell like olives?
