    Unhappy I'm lost!

    Can anyone please help me.

    Where can I buy some timber larger than 290mm wide in Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I've tried all the obvious places a newbie would but aren't having much luck.
    I've got a few idea's of some things I'd like to 'whack' together but can't find anywhere to buy a solid piece of timber greater than 290mm

    290 is about as wide as you can buy.
    glue pieces together to get the size you need.

    G'day bookers,

    Try and find someone who mills the timber themselves. There are a heap around up here and I'm sure you would find a few in them thar hills around the outer east of Melbourne.

    Most will have sheds full of stuff of all manner of timbers from table top slabs to 2x1's.

    At least that's my experience anyway

    Default wide timber

    Wood show in October will have plenty of timber. Mal from Boutique Timbers will be there, call him on 0265 858296 after 7.00pm if you want anything special bought to the show.

    bookers, if you're only going the whack something together I suggest you ring Porters who sell laminated pine through (in my case) Bunnings. For quick furniture I use their pine sheets which are usually 19mm thick, 2400 long and widths up to 600mm. From memory, standard widths are 300, 420 and 600. It is high grade clear pine and looks good after staining or even just a clear finish, good luck, Fletty

    Porters now have these in 25mm thick. Nice 'throw together' table/bench tops.

    if all you are looking for is pine, kilsyth bargin centre has pregrued panels 19mm thick up to about 600 wide. check them out..
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
