    Default Insect resistant drawers

Any ideas on what timber is most suited to make drawer bottoms out of that are insect resistant. I seem to remember that there were some classical timbers used that put out oils that deterred moths and silver fish.
    These drawers are for clothes.

I've heard camphor wood mentioned for this, but I've no idea if it really works or not.

    Hi
The best way to keep insects out of your drawers, is dont sit on the grass.

I recall cedar being good for discouraging clothes eating insects. You might be able to get some from an old chest of drawers that is not fit for restoring.

BTW not sitting on the grass may not stop flying insects!

Probably the easiest timber to get in Victoria is Western Red Cedar. I have run new WRC weatherboard thru the thicknesser till 6mm thick and its worked well. The only thing is make sure its knot free or they could fall out because of the thin sections.

BTW use a good quality mask when working with WRC its bad news for the lungs.

Camphor Laurel is widely used as bases in drawers and blanket boxes etc. Its certainly gets used by a lot of makers in the west and originates over East so should be quite readily available

    Thanks,
I should be able to get hold of Camphor Laurel, if not WRC with dust protection sounds the go.
