Now that you mention it, this is a rare thread, full of croweaters.... The climate here must be more suitable, although another couple of years of drought could see the end of any tree...

The link provided by Irish gardener says "slow growing... rarely over 10m x 10m in 50 years" which seems about right, this was a nursery pot planted by my father around 25 years ago and is now 5.5 - 6m tall and wide.

Default healing properties of Irish Strawberry Tree wood

If you've used it can you let me know if the results were worth the trouble?

    Himzo.
I have use for this wood if you want to sell some of it..I am essentially a carver and live in North Wales-recently I visited a fantastic healer called Ben Calder in Chester because I was told to have surgery for a gallstone and have the gall bladder removed totally...I was recommended to see him by some very good friends who had had similar problems with stones. After three visits he introduced a piece of wood from the irish Strawberry tree which he said was to be placed on my temple with my lying down on the couch-he is a kinesiologist btw...very well thought of in the UK who is always heavily booked. Now, this piece of wood he said would give me a feeling of great calm as I have a tendency to have problems sleeping which has always been with me all my life as long as I can remember-oh what I would have given for a deep sleep! I had my eyes closed and I stared to feel calm almost immediately which was amazing in itself, and started to see sort of white mist forming, which was nice to see-sort of like mist over a swamp I suppose. I felt very drawn to purchase or get hold of some of this wood as I carve "sleep heads"(don't laugh!!!) plus I would like to have a piece to do the same thing whilst lying down getting ready to sleep. If you feel you'd like to part with the wood, or indeed use these ideas please feel sure I am glad to share them with you and only too happy - either way I'd be glad to know your thoughts on this new discovery!
    Kind regards Y Gulland

If you are after some of this timber, it is better to post in the Market Place, rather than digging up very old threads. Also, I hope you are prepared to pay a fortune in transport costs.

    Cheers
