Default IWCS Visit to Acadia Valley Old

Last weekend a group of the QLD International Wood Collectors Society headed up to Acadia Valley QLD to look and hopefully collect numerous timber from the Qld Central Highlands within the Brigalow Belt and specifically Ooline (Cadellia pentastylis) timber that still exists there.

We ended up visiting 3 properties and got tours of the existing and various trees now being planted by the owner to try and overcome the errors of the past blanket clearing for pasture. Ooline is an ancient remnant rainforest tree that needs surrounding trees to survive, but with land clearing, has died in vast numbers with their dead silhouettes littering the horizon. We collected numerous logs/branches of various timbers. The majority from dead on ground trees, but also old fence posts and firewood piles.

I thought I had collected ~1t of timber myself by the way the trailer was bowing but on unpacking today it was probably closer to 0.5t. Here are photos of my stash separated into their species.
